FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
WILL THERE BE SOMEONE WAITING FOR ME AT ULAN BATOR AIRPORT?
Everyone who wishes to will be picked up at Ulan Bator International Airport. Pick-ups are scheduled for August 2, 2024. Those arriving on previous days should contact the organization via email.
WHAT IS THE LOCAL CURRENCY?
The local currency is the Tugrik. It consists of banknotes in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1,000, 5,000, 10,000, and 20,000 Tugriks. The face of either Genghis Khan or Sukhbaatar is depicted on each banknote. The exchange rate fluctuates regularly. CONVERTER
CAN I PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD? WHERE CAN I EXCHANGE MONEY?
Except in Ulan Bator, you won’t be able to use your international credit card or withdraw money. We recommend carrying Tugriks as soon as you venture away from the capital. Visa is accepted in more places than MasterCard. Money can be exchanged at the airport or at the hotel (with commissions). The Mart Shopping Centeralso offers currency exchange services (with lower commissions).
IS IT BETTER TO BRING DOLLARS OR EUROS?
In general, Mongolians prefer USD as it is their second currency.

WHAT IS THE PLANNING FOR FRIDAY, AUGUST 2, 2024 AFTER ARRIVING AT THE HOTEL?
Premium Hotel Ulaan Baatar:
9:30 – 13:00: Technical checks and bib collection on the top floor, reserved room.
1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.: Optional visit to Ulaanbaatar: Sukhbaatar Square, Chinggis Khaan Monument, National History Museum and Zaisan Hill for the panoramic view of the city. Includes Gandan Monastery Complex.
19:00 – 20:30: presentation of the race and then welcome dinner on the top floor of the hotel
WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE AT THIS TIME OF THE YEAR?
You can check the weather through the following websites.
Average temperature during the day: 23º / 25º.
Average temperature during the night: 10º / 12º (cold).
Possible days with passing rains.
DO I HAVE TO INFORM SOMEONE IF I AM VEGETARIAN AND/OR ALLERGIC TO ANY FOOD?
Yes. It is not a problem for us, but we have to know to order vegetarian dishes. Please send an email as soon as possible.
QUESTIONS ABOUT RACE DAYS
DO I NEED TO BRING A SLEEPING BAG?
No. Both in the hotel and in the gers (Mongol tents) you will sleep in beds with sheets and blankets.
ARE GAITTS NECESSARY?
Sand gaiters are mandatory and recommended for stage 1, not the other stages.
ARE THERE SHOWERS IN THE TOURIST CAMPS?
Yes, with hot water.
CAN I WASH MY CLOTHES?
Some of the accommodations have a laundry cleaning service: Premium Hotel / stage 3 accommodation (Tsenkher). You can also wash your clothes by hand.
IS IT A GOOD IDEA TO BRING A SWIMSUIT?
Yes. You can enjoy the hot springs in Tsenkher (stage 3 / stage 4).
IS THERE TOILET PAPER IN THE ACCOMMODATIONS?
We have found toilet paper in all the accommodations but, just in case, it is a good idea to carry a roll with you ;).
WILL I BE ABLE TO CHARGE MY ELECTRONIC DEVICES?
Yes, it is possible to charge all devices in common areas. Please check your plug type.
IS THERE A PHONE OR INTERNET CONNECTION?
At the Premium Hotel in Ulan Bator you will have no problems. During the race accommodation there is a telephone connection but the internet signal is not completely reliable. You can contact the STAFF runner support person to help you if necessary with your device. One option is to purchase a local SIM card, but not all phones accept them.
I WOULD LIKE TO EAT A FRUIT EVERY DAY. IT'S POSSIBLE?
Yes, you will have a little fruit with every meal at noon: watermelon, apples, tangerines.
IS A BACKPACK A MANDATORY ITEM DURING THE RACE?
Yes. In it you have to carry the mandatory material plus water (1L) plus some energy food.
WHERE AND WHEN SHOULD I SHOW MY BIB?
Your bib number must be worn on the front and must not be covered in any way. Please make sure it is visible at all times during the race. If we provide you with a second number, it will have to be attached to the backpack at the back.
WHERE CAN I FIND THE TRACKS OF EACH OF THE STAGES?
Soon, you will receive the tracks by email. These will be provisional until a few days before the event, the official final tracks are provided.
CAN I LEAVE A SMALL BAG AT THE EXIT LINE WITH SOME CLOTHES?
Yes, registration includes a 40L race bag with your number. This bag is the one that you can leave at the starting line every day and you will find it at the finish line. It is recommended to leave a dry change of clothes, warm clothes, sandals, as well as your personal toiletries. Your travel bags will not be at the finish line. These will travel every day from accommodation to accommodation and you will find them in your ger. It is recommended that your suitcases be made of flexible, water-resistant canvas to facilitate transportation.
